The Solar Industry Reference Group (SIRG) was formed in September 2020 to provide a forum enabling representative group of solar retailers and installer industry, solar peak bodies and the Office of the Technical Regulator (OTR) to engage with SA Power Networks to provide input in implementing our new energy services and products that will accelerate the energy transition and unlock significant benefits for customers, the community and the industry.
The group aims to facilitate cooperation and collaboration between members of the group, share learnings, and act as conduits to the solar retailer/installer and customer base within South Australia to engage on practical 'at the coal face' issues.
Since its establishment, the group has been working collaboratively to progress several key initiatives. Outcomes include:
Flexible Exports trial development and delivery
SmartApply and SmartInstall enhancements
Working with SAPN and OTR on shaping dynamic export requirements.

At the first meeting of 2023, SIRG discussed:
Priorities for 2023
Flexible Exports rollout approach as SA Power Networks plans to offer it to residential customers as a standard connection option.
Distributed Energy Resources (or Consumer Energy Resources, such as rooftop solar and home batteries) compliance
The meeting was held face-to-face at SAPN's Keswick office. It was great being able to see each other in person and discuss various matters to kick start this year.
