Guest speaker Chris Tugwell - Chair Mid Murray Landcare and River Murray International Dark Sky Community

Chris is the driving force behind the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve, recognised as one of the darkest places in the world.

Covering more than 3,200 square kilometres, the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve is known for its dry climate and cloudless skies and is an initiative of Mid Murray Landcare SA working closely with the Mid-Murray Council. It aims to raise awareness of the problems of light pollution and its impact on Australia’s unique nocturnal wildlife.

In his other life, Chris has written more than 50 scripts for stage and screen and was made a Life Member of the Australian Writer's Guild in 2012 and the Mid Murray's Citizen of the Year in 2021.
