Thank you very much for your contributions to Phase 2! Check out what's happening during the 2020-2025 Draft Plan consultation here.

"What comes out of this very important process, will have impacts right across the community", Rob Stobbe, CEO.

Every five years all network businesses undergo a regulatory reset process, run by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER). As part of this process, SA Power Networks will develop a Regulatory Proposal that outlines our plans for 2020-2025 for the distribution network.

We are seeking the views of our customers in developing this Regulatory Proposal through a state-wide engagement program. The In-Depth phase of this program provides diverse opportunities for community members from across SA to engage in dialogue that will inform our plans.

Consultation is now closed and the feedback we received is listed below:

  • View community comments in the discussion forums
  • See the outcomes of our quick polls
  • Understand peoples experiences by viewing the map tools
  • View the questions received and answers provided
  • Register with the site to receive a regular newsletter and be invited to join the next phase of engagement.

Help shape SA's energy network of the future.

In late November we held a workshop with members of our Customer Consultative Panel and Reference Groups to seek their input on our draft Levels of Service. These were developed based on past data, our understanding of customer expectations, and statutory requirements that set the minimum levels of service we must provide.

Stakeholders representing among others, local government, consumer groups and our Arborist, Community and Renewables reference groups, were asked for their thoughts and to identify what was missing in relation to our draft Levels of Service, which span the following categories:

    • safety
    • customer experience
    • reliability and quality of supply
    • environment
    • aesthetics
    • multi-flow grid
    • information and communication
    • cost-efficiency.

Keep your eyes out for future workshops on our Levels of Service in 2018.

We wanted to find out from our customers if they use solar and why.

We asked our customers how important a solar system is in reducing the amount of energy they need to buy from retailers. For 76% of customers who responded, it was the most important feature and not one customer said that it was not important.

When we asked our customers how important it was to be able to sell surplus energy generated by a solar system to make money, 70% of customers said it was important, with 37% saying it was the most important feature of a solar system. For 7% of customers, this was the least important feature of a solar system.

If you haven’t done so already, share you views in a quick poll.

You can comment on our Future Network video on our forum.

Our polls and forums are a great way for you to give us feedback and we will be using the information from these in our future planning.

    One question we asked was:

In an unplanned outage, how do you prefer to communicate with SA Power Networks?

Most respondents - 74% - said SMS, with 11%, phone call and 6%, email.

If you haven’t done so already, please take one of our polls now.

How well have we communicated with you in an outage?

Go to our mapping tool, pin your home or business and give us your feedback.

We have been busy in October delivering workshops with a range of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, gathering feedback on their experience of the electricity industry.

The translated focus group with the Chinese community saw 20 residents and business owners enthusiastically share their concerns, identifying reliability, communication during outages and network price as their priorities.

The Chinese community workshop was held on 12 October 2017. View the workshop film below. You can also read the full CALD report here.

Two lucky SA Power Networks customers - Ian from Athelstone (pictured) and Patrik from Port Pirie – each won an iPad Pro in the draw for registering on the Talking Power website.

Ian is also registered with SA Power Networks’ Power@MyPlace and receives email/SMS alerts when there is a scheduled power outage. He also uses the SA Power Networks website to find out how long a power outage is going to last.

Patrik has a keen interest in renewable energy and new technology and was interested in engaging with us through Talking Power.

    Enjoy your iPad Pros, gentlemen!

Some of our customers have unique needs and we will be engaging them through four targeted focus groups for people from the Vietnamese, Chinese, Burmese and Bhutanese communities.

To ensure meaningful participation from all customers at the focus groups, the proceedings will be translated in real time and customers will be given the opportunity to ask questions.

The focus groups will be held during October and will aim to reach between 50 and 60 community members.

It’s a great way to widen the conversation as we keep on Talking Power.
