Every five years, SA Power Networks undergoes a regulatory reset process, submitting a Regulatory Proposal to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), detailing our proposed business operations and service delivery.

Following on from our Broad and Diverse engagement workshops and Focussed Conversations, the People’s Panel is the culmination of our engagement process.

When

The second weekend of the People's Panel focusing on investment options and planning was held between 10-12 February 2023. The session was facilitated independently by democracyCo with staff members from SA Power Networks observing.

What did we discuss?

The weekend provided an opportunity for the Panel members to:

  • Raise awareness about the view of the consumers and presenting them with updated budgets and refined expenditure iterations.
  • Presenting the Panel with the results from the Customer Values Research survey.
  • Equipping the panel with regional business perspectives to enhance their understanding of crucial services and proposals for the future.
  • Collaborating closely to generate a draft recommendation to provide as feedback to SA Power Networks.

What's next?

The Panel will meet for its final session in March 2023.

The Panel will reconvene for an intensive deliberation to finalise their priorities and will work in close collaboration with business representatives on the topic of export tariffs to decide when the tariff will be introduced to different consumer cohorts.
