As part of our Regulatory Proposal 'Reset' Engagement for 2025-2030, we are holding a series of 'Focussed Conversations' workshops with our stakeholders and customers to engage deeply on priority topics and better understand their current needs and future priorities for electricity.

We commenced our first Focussed Conversation on Energy Transition, bringing together stakeholders and ideas on how to enable energy transition amongst our customers and community.

Click here to read the final outputs and recommendations to the People's Panel for this topic.

Please note: Our expenditure, revenue and price forecasts will continue to be refined as we go through the stages of our consumer engagement process and also incorporate the latest economic conditions. Therefore, the forecasts presented in the Focussed Conversations may vary from those that will be taken to our People's Panel in February 2023.

Workshop 1

Who did we engage?

The workshop was held online on Friday, 12 August and was attended by 47 stakeholders representing a range of businesses, key industry representatives, governmental organisations and advocates along with SA Power Networks staff members.

What did we engage on?

Participants were asked to consider a number of questions relating to:

  • Do we have the right people in the room to provide advice?
  • What are the key topics for detailed discussion in subsequent workshops?
  • What kind of information will we need to bring to subsequent workshops to explore key issues in more detail and provide advice on options
  • Is there anything missing that we should be thinking about for the 2025-30 period?

What did we learn?

Discussions were held around the topics of enabling clean energy, empowering our customers and enabling the EV transition across South Australia. Click here to read the key takeaways from the first session here. A detailed summary for this topic will be made available once all the workshops have concluded.

Workshop 3

Who did we engage?

We held our third and final workshop on Thursday, 10 November with 13 stakeholders (in-person and online) representing our Community Advisory Board and Reset sub-committee, industry, business, city and State Government, consumer advocates and the Australian Energy Regulator. We also held a second online session on Thursday, 17 November with a further 8 stakeholders who were unable to attend the first workshop. A number of SA Power Networks staff joined both sessions in-person and online.

What did we engage on?

This workshop aimed to continue and finalise discussion from the previous workshops on the two key topic areas - Enabling Clean Energy, and Transitioning our fleet to Electric Vehicles (EV's). In the session, a recap and feedback from Workshop 2 was shared with participants, along with further detail and refined analysis on the scenarios (investment and service outcomes) for their discussion and consideration. We also responded to specific questions raised in Workshop 2.

Discussions were held with the participants on the topics of:

- Enabling Clean Energy

  • What are we planning to do to continue to support the uptake of rooftop solar and other customer energy resources?
  • What level of service should we be aiming for?
  • What might that cost, and what does it mean for tariffs?
  • How can we help customers make the most of their flexible loads and other resources?

- Transition our fleet to Electric Vehicles (EV's)

  • How should we transition our own vehicle fleet to EVs?

Participants were asked to vote on their preferred investment and service outcome Scenarios under the two topics, which will form recommendations to the deliberative People's Panel and will be uploaded here once available.
