As part of our Regulatory Proposal 'Reset' Engagement for 2025-2030, we are holding a series of 'Focussed Conversations' workshops with our stakeholders and customers to engage deeply on priority topics to better understand their current needs and future priorities for electricity.

Please note: Our expenditure, revenue and price forecasts will continue to be refined as we go through the stages of our consumer engagement process and also incorporate the latest economic conditions. Therefore, the forecasts presented in the Focussed Conversations may vary from those that will be taken to our People's Panel in February 2023.

Workshop 1

We commenced the first of our Focussed Conversations on Adelaide CBD Reliability, bringing together stakeholders and ideas on how to maintain and improve the reliability of power in the Adelaide Central Business District. This workshop is the first of two workshops aiming to discuss current issues and potential improvement opportunities, which we will explore in further detail - including service outcomes and potential expenditure, informing recommendations and a report to the Deliberative People's Panel later this year.

Who did we engage?

The workshop on this topic was held on Tuesday, 30 August and was attended by 18 external stakeholders representing a range of businesses, local council and community organisations, government representatives and advocates along with SA Power Networks staff members.

Participants of this workshop were taken on a tour around the Adelaide CBD to witness the substations and the issues affecting reliability in the Central Business District.

What did we engage on?

Participants were asked to consider:

  • what level of outages is considered reasonable? Is there an acceptable level?
  • What are customers' supply restoration times expectations?
  • Should our expenditure be proactive or reactive?
  • Do we have the right people in the room to provide advice?
  • What additional information would assist in making any decisions?

Workshop documents

Participants attending the workshop were provided with a Pre-read participant pack, providing them with a background to the SA Power Networks' Reset 2025-30 and the Adelaide CBD Focussed conversation. Click here to access the participant pre-read pack.

Workshop 2

Who did we engage?

The workshop on this topic was held on Monday, 12 September and was attended by 16 external stakeholders representing a range of businesses, local council and community organisations, government representatives and advocates along with SA Power Networks staff members.

What did we engage on?

At our first workshop, the stakeholders were informed how the Adelaide CBD compares to other CBD areas in terms of both state and national targets of outages. The group discussed how reliability has changed in terms of minutes of supply since the last Regulatory Period 2020-25 and what are the key performance trends.

During the second workshop, participants were asked to consider the following questions:

  • Are the scenarios considered appropriate?

  • What levels of services do our customers support?

  • What is an acceptable level of outages? What is the minimum desirable target?

  • Should our expenditure be proactive or reactive?

  • Are there any other factors we should consider?

  • Has the right information been provided to make the decisions?
