The Arborist Reference Group was established in 2014 as an independent entity, providing horticultural and arboriculture advice on a range of strategic initiatives aimed at improving amenity outcomes and vegetation management near powerlines.

The group consists of representatives from the following organisations

Since its establishment, the group has been working collaboratively to progress several key initiatives to improve vegetation clearance outcoming including:

Kelvin Trimper, Deputy Chair of our Community Advisory Board (CAB) is one of the founding members of the Arborist Reference Group.


The group is chaired by Doug Schmidt, Executive General Manager, Network Management, and supported by Patrice Pearson, Stakeholder Engagement Lead, SA Power Networks.

    Arboriculture Australia National Conference

    Recently (22 – 24 May) Arboriculture Australia held their National Conference, the first conference for 3-years due to COVID 19.

    It was a great opportunity to Network with stakeholders regarding the challenges within the vegetation industry. A clear observation is the industry shift to recognition of Cultural Significance, Mental Health Awareness, Diversity and Inclusion, Urban Heat Maps and Greening our Communities and Technology, in particular Lidar and Satellite Technology.

    Photographed below are the Yugambeh people who are the traditional owners on the land of which we met. Aunty Bev Hand presented to the Conference on traditional plant uses by the Yugambeh people
